Honing Your Interpreting Skills

  • 04/22/2017
  • 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
  • Boston University College of Arts and Sciences, 725 Commonwealth Avenue, Rm 213 (note different location!)

Whether you are a neophyte or an experienced interpreter, you will surely welcome the opportunity to brush up on the essentials and engage in practice exercises with a view to fine-tuning your interpreting techniques. Our facilitator, Frank Geoffrion, will provide some general pointers and then present a variety of scenarios from the legal, medical, and community contexts. Given Mr. Geoffrion's years of experience teaching interpreting, you will no doubt benefit from his expert feedback. He can include participants from mixed backgrounds, so feel free to join in regardless of your language pair. (If you work with a language other than Spanish, you will want to invite a colleague who interprets using that language.)

Translators: This is a no-pressure setting. If you have never tried interpreting and would like to get a taste of what's involved, you are more than welcome.
