Es cuestión de inspirarse: Translating Argentine Colloquialisms

Argentine Spanish poses a particular problem during the translation process, due to its use of the "voseo." In the case of Alicia Borinsky's work, which often uses Argentine slang in addition, questions about how to translate particular phrases and cultural contexts into English abound. In this chat, translator Natasha Hakimi Zapata will discuss how she addressed these issues while translating Borinsky's La mujer de mi marido / My Husband's Woman (Literal Publishing, 2016) as well as touch upon other questions that arose while translating Argentine poet Liliana Lukin's Teatro de opearaciones / Theater of Operations (Literal Publishing, 2016).
